Soft sand, dramatic mountains, the calmest light in the world

Hawaii does something to photography that nowhere else can. The air softens. The light falls golden through palms. The ocean reads turquoise in almost any frame. We bring our editorial eye and the same one-team approach we use back home in West Virginia — one photographer, one filmmaker, planned together, no competing timelines on the most important day of your life.

Whether you’re flying in for an intimate beach elopement, a full destination wedding, or a quiet engagement session before the big day back home, this is where we love to shoot. Below is our Hawaii work, plus everything we tell couples planning a wedding or engagement session in the islands.

Getting married or engaged in Hawaii: what to know

Sunrise or sunset

East-side beaches (Lanikai, Waimanalo) shine at sunrise. West-side beaches (Ko Olina, Maili) shine at sunset. We’ll match your ceremony location to the light, not the other way around.

Beach permits

Hawaii requires a state permit for any ceremony on a public beach. The DLNR application takes 2–4 weeks and costs around $130. We’ll walk you through it.

Travel built in

Hawaii is on our travel list, which means many packages include flights and lodging in the base price. Send us your dates for a travel-inclusive quote.

Best months

April through October is the most reliable weather window across all islands. November through March is winter swell season — gorgeous, dramatic, more weather variability.

FAQ

Hawaii wedding and engagement questions

Do you charge extra for travel from West Virginia to Hawaii?

Hawaii is on our travel list, which means many of our packages include flights and lodging in the base price. Send us your dates and we’ll quote travel-inclusive.

Do we need a permit to get married on a Hawaii beach?

Yes. Any wedding ceremony on a Hawaii state beach requires a permit from the Department of Land and Natural Resources. The process takes 2–4 weeks and costs roughly $130. We’ll guide you through it as part of your booking.

Can we book just an engagement session in Hawaii?

Yes. Many of our Hawaii engagement sessions are with couples getting married back home and traveling to the islands for the session. Half-day and full-day options available.

Which Hawaii island is best for a wedding?

It depends on the vibe. Oahu offers the most variety and easiest logistics. Maui is the classic luxury choice. Kauai is wild and dramatic. The Big Island has black-sand beaches and volcanic terrain you can’t get anywhere else. We’ll help you pick.

When’s the best time of year to get married in Hawaii?

April through October is the most reliable weather window. November through March brings bigger surf and more rain — gorgeous in its own way but less predictable. We always plan a 30-minute weather buffer.
