Maui Wedding & Engagement Photography

Maui is romance distilled — the most photographed sunsets in Hawaii, beaches that read like paintings, and a quiet that the other islands can’t match.

Where Hawaii weddings feel timeless

Maui is the destination wedding choice for couples who want unhurried beauty. The west-side resort corridor (Wailea, Kaanapali, Kapalua) is the country’s most concentrated stretch of luxury wedding venues. The Road to Hana on the east side opens into black-sand beaches, waterfalls, and lava-tube caves. Upcountry, you’ll find ranches, lavender farms, and views from Haleakalā that don’t feel real.

We shoot Maui weddings as we shoot anywhere — one team, photo and film together, planned around the light. Below is our Maui work and the planning notes we share with couples thinking about this island.

The logistics

Getting married on Maui: what to know

Resort weddings

Wailea, Kaanapali, and Kapalua resorts have full wedding teams. They handle permits, setup, and timeline. Easiest path to a stress-free day.

Beach permits

Public-beach ceremonies require a Hawaii state permit. We file the DLNR paperwork with you and confirm 2–4 weeks ahead.

Hana & remote spots

Hana beaches and Wai‘anapanapa (black sand) are stunning but a 2.5-hour drive from the airport side. Plan a full day, not a quick stop.

Sunset is everything

Maui’s west-side sunsets are iconic for a reason. Many couples plan ceremony time around the golden hour window.

FAQ

Maui wedding questions, answered

What are the best Maui wedding venues?

Top picks: Olowalu Plantation House (historic), Sugar Beach Events (private oceanfront), Grand Wailea, Montage Kapalua, and Hana-Maui Resort. Each has its own feel.

Can we get married on a Maui black-sand beach?

Yes — Wai‘anapanapa State Park near Hana is the best-known. Permit and reservation required. We plan it as a full-day adventure.

How early should we book a Maui wedding photographer?

8–12 months is normal for Maui, often longer for peak season weekends. Travel-included packages need flight planning.

Do you photograph sunset ceremonies on Maui?

Yes, and we encourage it. Maui west-side sunsets are some of the best in the world. We plan ceremony timing 60–90 minutes before sunset.

Do you charge extra for Maui travel?

Hawaii is on our travel list, so many packages include flights and lodging. Send dates for a travel-inclusive quote.
